## Overview

Bitcoin has no confidential transactions. Privacy depends on coordination techniques such as CoinJoin, PayJoin and silent payments, and that layer took heavy legal damage: Samourai's founders were sentenced and zkSNACKs closed its coordinator, leaving smaller anonymity sets behind. Bitcoin Core still ships no wallet-level support for silent payments.
