Zama brought FHE to Ethereum at the end of 2025, and the costs came with it. Published throughput sits in the low tens of transactions per second, decryption depends on a threshold committee, and in May 2026 a court order froze 12.6 million dollars in its confidential USDC wrapper for three days because the design cannot freeze a single account. Earlier, academic key-recovery attacks on its TFHE library forced a parameter change.
